What’s Included in Your Photographer’s Journey?
Package Inclusions:
Accommodations
: Enjoy comfortable lodging throughout your trip, ensuring a restful stay at each location.
Meals:Delight in a full dining experience with all meals provided, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring local cuisine and seasonal specialities.
Mineral Water: Stay hydrated with complimentary mineral water available throughout your journey.
Transportation: All your transportation needs are covered, including private car transfers to and from various sites.
Boat Transit: Experience the unique landscapes with a round-trip journey on the Public Express Boat between Sorong and Waigeo, enjoying scenic views of the surrounding waters.
Guides: Benefit from the expertise of an English-speaking bird guide who will enhance your understanding of the local avifauna. Additionally, local bird guides with specialised knowledge of the area will help spot and identify species.
Entrance Fees: Access to the bird hide locations is included, allowing for prime bird-watching opportunities.
Local Expertise: Collaborate with local landowners and bird guides to enhance your experience and deepen your understanding of the region’s biodiversity.
Support for Porters: Meals for camera porters are also included, ensuring that all members of the team are well taken care of during your adventure.
This package is designed to provide an immersive experience for birdwatching enthusiasts while ensuring comfort and convenience throughout your journey

The stated price does not include the following additional costs:
Internal or Domestic Flight Tickets and Extra Luggage Fees: Travellers are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets for any internal connections, as well as any fees incurred for excess baggage beyond the allowed limit.
Camera Porters: If you require assistance with your camera equipment during your trip, please note that hiring a camera porter costs IDR 300,000 per day.
Beverages: Please be aware that juices, beers, and other alcoholic beverages are not included in the package price and will need to be purchased separately.
Extra Meals: Any meals beyond those explicitly included in your itinerary are not covered (for example Lobster, big fishes), so be prepared to budget for additional dining experiences.
Travel Insurance and Optional Activities: Travel insurance is not included in the package price, and we strongly recommend securing coverage for your journey. Furthermore, any optional excursions or activities offered during the trip are also at an extra cost.
Gratuities Information: Tips for drivers, local guides, helpers, and landowners are not included in the travel package. To enhance your travel experience, it is recommended to budget for gratuities. The suggested amount is $10 per person per day. For example, on an 15-day trip, this would total $150 per participant ($10 x 15 days). Please note that tips are typically collected on your arrival date.
Unexpected Expenses: Any costs arising from flight cancellations, delays, or other circumstances outside of our control will be the responsibility of the traveller.

We encourage you to plan for these potential additional expenses to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.

PAYMENTS METHODS
We require a minimum of 50% deposit payment to confirm your booking. We cannot guarantee your booking until this has been received. Bookings will be held for 7 days to allow the client time to send a deposit payment. We reserve the right to release the booking if the deposit is not received within 7 days of the booking. We will make all reservation for accommodations, Land transportations, bird locations, guides, and all arrangement after we received your deposit transfer payment.
Changes to dates after the deposit has been made can be made, but will be subject to availability.
Cancellation Policy
Deposit payment, No Refund, No show – full payment charge. Full Payment: The full payment will be required at least 30 days before your date of arrival. The invoice amount has to be paid in full, net of all transfer costs and bank charges.

LIABILITY
Sultan Birding Tours act only as agents for the passenger regarding travel, whether by railroad, motorcar, motor coach, boat, or airplane, and assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity which may be occasioned either by reason of defect in any vehicle or for any reason whatsoever or through the acts or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour. Sultan Birding Tours Indonesia can accept no responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike, war, quarantine, or other causes. All such losses or expenses will have to be borne by the passenger, as tour rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated. Baggage is at the owner’s risk entirely. The airlines concerned and their agents and affiliates are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their
aircraft

Some Things We Recommend You to Bring (General list for West Papua Birdwatching/Birdphotograph tours – specific destinations may need further recommendations)

  • Binoculars (the guides cannot lend theirs)
  • A spotting scope and tripod or window mount (optional)
  • Field guides
  • Any other birding equipment
  • Photographic equipment (optional)
  • Spare batteries for photographic and other gear
  • Flashlight/torch/headlamp with spare batteries
  • Toiletries
  • Sweater
  • Personal medication (including anti-malaria drugs). We recommend packing important medication (and a change of clothes) in your hand luggage in the unlikely event of lost luggage
  • Rain gear
  • Alarm clock
  • Passport and if required, visas
  • Copies of passport, medical insurance policies, and other important documents
  • Money for alcoholic beverages, gifts, tips, items of a personal nature, etc. Traveler’s checks are often difficult to use except in the USA but Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted including for drawing local currency at ATM’s
  • Hiking boots plus another pair of shoes and sandals
  • Swimming gear
  • Cap/hat and dark glasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Long-sleeved clothes as a precaution against biting insects.
